DOC Band

Chance has been in his DOC band now since Thursday.  He's been in it for 23 hours a day for the past two days.  Booo to him having to wear it during the hottest time of the year :-(.  Let me just tell you, we don't spend an extended amount of time outside but man does the band STINK when I take it off for the 1 free hour!

Chance is SOO close to rolling over on his left side from back to tummy.  He gets to his side and then can't figure out what to do with this left arm!  I'm sure he'll figure it out soon.  He has totally stopped rolling from tummy to back.  Not quite sure what that is all about?!?

Seriously, who can be any cuter wearing the band other than C?!

LOL, no caption needed!

Happy 7 months- goodbye o2!!!

Another month gone to the wind!  Chance is 7 months today!  3.5 adjusted. He is getting cuter and cuter every day!  We got HUGE news today... He passed his sleep study!  Wooo hoooo!  So exciting!  He stayed above 90% 99% of the time and his average was 97%. Yay Chance!  He has to keep his monitors for a couple more weeks but after that he'll/we'll be free!!

Chance also tried oatmeal today at therapy and he did fabulous!  I'm going to start offering it a couple times a day now to try and get him used to it. I did take a video of him but I'll have to embed it into HTML tomorrow. Here's the link until then: http://youtu.be/Njuly1xchhg

My mom and I put together his high chair and he tried it out today too!

Tomorrow we go to Cranial Technology to get his DOC band. I called a company in Frisco that does the cute wraps for the bands and they are starting back up with the wraps the first week of July. So, C's will be plain white until then.

Sleeping in bed with mom!

Trying out my new high chair!

Grampa Buddy is in town!

Chance turns 7 months in 2 days, I can't believe it!  We went last Thursday for his final fitting and he gets his DOC band on Thursday so hopefully his head will shape closer to the 6 weeks rather than 9.  Chance officially passed the 12 pound mark... he is 12 lb 5 oz!  The thickening has really helped a lot with feeding.  He takes his milk much easier and spit ups are minimal where as before it was pretty much half his meal. Chance is going to try oatmeal at feeding therapy on Wednesday!

Here's a mass upload of video clips and pics taken over the past week.

Cute clip narrated by my dad.

Chance is getting stronger every day.  Look how well he's sitting in his bumbo!

I could listen to his laugh all day every day!

Wonder where C gets his major eyebrows from?!

Chance getting his final fitting for the DOC band.

Look at me sitting up like a BIG BOY!

God's promises

God doesn't promise that life will be easy. God doesn't promise that every day will be a smiling ray of sunshine. What God does promise is that trials and adversity will come your way. Christian or not Christian everyone is going to with go problems and hurt. Being a Christian makes those times of hardship 1000x easier because you do not have to rely on just yourself to get you through it. I often wonder how non-Christians make it through life's struggles without our Lord to lean on. Just reminding myself that God does promise life and peace through him. We don't have to do it alone!

Chance did another o2 sleep study last night. I pray he'll be able to get off oxygen this time! I think he did pretty good!  He held his sats up there where they should for the majority of the night!!

Chance getting evaluated for the DOC band. He did qualify so we are waiting to schedule for his final fitting. They project he will need to wear the band for 6-9 weeks. Oh joy!  We went to his pedi appt and she wants C to get a follow up with a cardiologist from his PDA ligation. So, I made an appt to see one in a couple weeks. She didn't see a reason per say she just wants all bases covered.

Look how good C's holding his head up!!

GI follow up with awesome news!!

I got some awesome news at Chance's GI follow up last week.  His doctor was so impressed with his weight gain and progress he has made since he saw her last.  He not only followed his growth curve but shot straight up on it.  She predicts that if he continues making the progress he's made that by 1 year actual he will be ON the growth chart for his actual age!!  So exciting!  Then she said that he doesn't need a g button with the amazing progress he's making.  I have been waiting and waiting for someone to say those magical words to me!  Yay!!!!!  She also said that he looks so great that if she didn't already know that he was a 25 weeker then she'd never guess it herself.  She gave props to me too because she said ultimately a child's progress is up to the parents.  So yay me!!!  Needless to say, I left that appointment very happy!

We go Friday to his cranial technology eval to see about getting the band for his head to shape it.

Feeding therapy started last week.  I got some valuable suggestions and strategies.  One thing I would've never thought of is bouncing on a work out ball while feeding him.  The bouncing helps to organize/re-organize him to start feeding again.  What was happening was he'd take the first ounce great then have trouble starting again to finish the rest.  The ball has really helped!
